Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood does the same thing for the Sherwood Forest while sticking closely to the conventions of Desperados, which is a good thing and a bad thing.įirst the good, getting a handle on the controls will be a snap for players of Deperados, as Legend of Sherwood handles and plays alike - controlling a group, distracting enemies, an emphasis on stealth, etc. It had a huge amount of challenge and it did justice to the Wild West setting with some slick graphics and sound. Probably one of the most underrated RTS games last year was Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive. Shrewd players will design strategies to foil Prince John's men by utilizing the many weapons and tactics available. An intuitive interface helps players learn the combat system quickly, and everyone can practice skills at the outlaws' training camp. Robin and his friends will scurry around Sherwood Forest, Nottingham Castle, York, Leicester, Derby, and Lincoln as they harass the Prince's guards and evade his powerful armored knights. With Richard the Lionhearted fighting in the Crusades, England suffers under the cruel hands of the evil Prince John.

It'd have to be more like the Robin of Sherwood tv series of the 80s.(Not that horrible one of recent times.Although the last five minutes of Season 1 were properly amazing, and much of Season 2 was actually really good.).Though not perfect by any means, I admit, it had a very well done and at times very dark story through it.Plus, they killed off Robin at one point. So those clamouring for main characters to die could be happy.īut then we'd get another Robin with pretty hair to come along and avenge Hood, Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, and Little John join forces when Robin of Locksley returns from his foreign adventures. And games are inevitably inspired by cinematic representations. Serious was the right guy to play Robin Hood. Than Ridley Scott decided that Russell Crowe, Mr.

After that about the only decent Robin Hood movie was Men in Tights which spoofed that truly awful Kevin Costner movie. You even had a Disney cartoon with Robin Hood as a Fox (seems legit). You had Errol Flynn's iconic original, then Sean Connery in ROBIN AND MARIAN (a really beautiful movie). It used to be that every decade had its own Robin Hood.
The only problem is that Robin Hood has seen a decline in influence. But that might take it into Witcher territory, much like that moronic attempt to Dante's Infero as God of War. You can even add other figures from English folklore from that time. It might be worth it to do a game entirely around folklore in open world, that way you don't have to worry too much about historical accuracy and the folklore is pretty interesting. I don't think I'd like an AC game with Robin Hood (since Robin didn't exist), but a standalone game certainly.
